CHANGE OF GUARD: New IIM-A head a market wizard

 Ahmedabad: The new chief of India’s top B-School, Samir Barua, is a capital market wizard. Barua, who was appointed the director of IIM-Ahmedabad on Friday, is also an expert in portfolio theory, international finance, operation research and decision sciences, applied statistics and management information and control systems.

 Barua joined IIM-A as Associate Professor in 1983 and became a Professor in 1986. He is a Visiting Faculty at various academic institutions in the US, the Netherlands, Singapore and Cyprus.

 Barua has been a consultant to many public and private organisations in manufacturing, banking and financial services sector.

 Barua has also prepared policy papers for the finance ministry, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Barua has published over 200 papers, articles and cases and has co-authored two books - ‘Portfolio Management’ and ‘The Great Indian Scam’.
