The Organizational Behavior (OB) Area housed within IIMA was ranked fifth for its research by "EIU Survey Results on Global MBA Programmes" in 2001. It is an internationally recognized area for its teaching and research. The area is one of the most active research groups at IIMA.
The faculty in the area have diverse research interests. These interests range from individual, interpersonal and team effectiveness, gender issues at the workplace, identity, work-family conflict, role of emotions, management of creativity and innovation, human resources development, quality of work-life, organizational culture, cross-cultural issues in management, organizational dynamics and design, organizational learning and management of change, managing organizational transformations and downsizing, business ethics and institution-building. The Organizational Behavior faculty offers a variety of courses in important areas to the post-graduate programme students and to the doctoral programme students. The Area also offers a variety of management development programmes.
